But you didn't _normally_ have to use any of those commands.
Assuming it was working properly
(which in my case it wasn't a lot of the time)
WiFi just came up when I booted.

I had to be superuser to edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* ,
certainly, but then I have to be superuser to edit
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/* .
What is the difference?
