Heh. Well, this is because of plymouth and the generic-logos package. 
We're currently using generic-logos here and those contain some kind of 
unfavorable boot screen. We ran into the same issue with Sugar on a 
Stick and rebuilt that package. Anyway, it's at least good to hear that 
you're getting an image instead of the text messages now.
