Name : pdftk
Product : Fedora 11
Version : 1.41
Release : 21.fc11
URL : http://www.pdfhacks.com/pdftk/
Summary : The PDF Tool Kit
Description :
If PDF is electronic paper, then pdftk is an electronic staple-remover,
hole-punch, binder, secret-decoder-ring, and X-Ray-glasses. Pdftk is a simple
tool for doing everyday things with PDF documents. Keep one in the top drawer
of your desktop and use it to:

   * Merge PDF Documents
   * Split PDF Pages into a New Document
   * Decrypt Input as Necessary (Password Required)
   * Encrypt Output as Desired
   * Burst a PDF Document into Single Pages
   * Report on PDF Metrics, including Metadata and Bookmarks
   * Uncompress and Re-Compress Page Streams
   * Repair Corrupted PDF (Where Possible)

Pdftk is also an example of how to use a library of Java classes in a
stand-alone C++ program. Specifically, it demonstrates how GCJ and CNI allow
C++ code to use iText's (itext-paulo) Java classes.

Update Information:

iText 2.1.7 is an intermediary release fixing some problems with iText 2.1.6:
o PdfPKCS7: More robust timestamp extraction. o PdfPKCS7: Ripemd didn't work,
some kind of signed attributes couldn't be verified correctly. o PdfStamperImp:
Avoid accessing directly member variables from other classes. o PdfSmartCopy:
Check deeper for comparison. o Rotation in PdfPCell: take mod before making
positive. Changes made by Kevin Day o Fix NPE when parsing Type 0 fonts
without a ToUnicode map (I've seen some winding font entries stored as Type 0
instead of TT in some pdf files) o Adjusted unicode to cid mapping so it takes
the first one found from DocumentFont. This is just a band-aid, as it doesn't
address cases where multiple cids may map to single unicode value. o Fix byte
to int sign conversion o Enhance text parsing to handle fonts with encoding but
no ToUnicode map. Ref Bug #2792227 o PdfPRow: Cheating a little bit more to
deal with a floating point problem (until we can solve this in a more structural
way) o PdfPTable/PdfPRow/PdfPCell: Fix a bug for the new rowspan funtionality
o PdfStamperImp: Solved NPE problems with producer string o Image in Chunk:
Taking into account the top border width of the Image in case the leading has to
be changed to accommodate for the image height. o RtfList: The public void
writeContent(final OutputStream result) method needs to output
RtfParagraph.PARAGRAPH_DEFAULTS after every list. Patch posted anonymously to SF
(#2809140). o RtfFont: When adding a paragraph, table cell or other Phrase
without specifing the font, by default the "unknown" font is created in the font
table. Like: {\f3\froman\fcharset0 unknown;} Word 2000 doesn't recognise the
unknown font and waits indefinately. Patch provided by M. Smith on the SF
Bugtracker (#2807621) This iText release brings plenty of bug fixes and new
functionality such as rowspan for PdfPTable. The full changelog can be found at
