Audacity is a cross-platform multitrack audio editor. It allows you to

Update Information:

 Please notice the long list of changes and known issues in the included
README.txt file and help with testing Audacity on the road to version 1.4.0.
Fedora-specific: Introduces an enhancement to the internal copy of the PortAudio
libraries that allows Audacity to record and playback via PulseAudio. This is
the same enhancement added to Fedora's portaudio library. To use the new
capability, use the Edit|Preferences|Audio I/O item, and set: - Playback
Device=ALSA: pulse  - Recording Device=ALSA: pulse
