One other thought...  It might be worth making some of the features that are
being excluded due to license and patent issues optional in the spec, obviously
defaulting to off.  That might make it easier to re-enable those features as
some of the license issues are resolved, plus it would be useful for people who
didn't mind rebuilding a local copy.
