Also you need to remove -L/usr/X11R6/lib.

The best way to fix Mfkefile params is to use conditional assignment. For example

CFLAGS ?= -Wall 

This means "if no CFLAGS specified, then assign -Wall, instead use specified
value". 

After that invoke 'make' as following:

CFLAGS="%{optflags} -DWHATEVER_YOU_NEED" make %{smp_flags}
