The first is the patch sent upstream. The second is the patch against configure
which ends to be specific with the sources version used.

wrong, there is nothing common with the zlib 1.2.2 bug and the
undefined-non-weak-symbol related to a missing -lz at link time.

wrong, not in x86_64 at least. The cause is the autotools version used to
generate the source archive.
