sorry for my delay here. 

1 and 2 look good. 

3: I am still a bit nervous about having them available, but I'm not sure it
violates any packaging rule. 

4. I guess I see the need here as well. These are not packages, but rather just
benchmark tests/data in this case. I don't think folks will use this package to
install and use them day to day. 

So, pretty much everything looks ok for me... however, could you spin up a
1.8.0 version and let me give it a final look over before approval?
