No, I do not build libraries multiple times. E.g. liblcgdm is only built by the
lfc SRPM, the other three has the lcgdm-devel as a build dependency.

No, the alternatives in Fedora has a --initscript option for this purpose.
These initscripts should however not themselves be handled by alternatives, and
must have different names for different altenatives. The alternatives system
makes sure that only one of the alternative's initscript is active at the same
time.
