One last thing: If you do
rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/%{_docdir}
you can drop
 --docdir=%{_docdir}/%{name}-%{version}
from configure. It's up to you to ether use 
 --docdir=%{_docdir}/%{name}-%{version} and %exclude the files you don't want
or use %doc to install them. But please don't mix both to keep the spec simple.
