Only thing I'm unsure about at all is if this patch for adding pkg-config is
acceptable.  It's very easy to remove if not.  I included the regenerated
autoconf/automake files so there would be no package build-time dependency on
those tools.  A simplified patch without the generated files has been emailed
to the upstream author (http://www.digip.org/) for potential inclusion in the
next upstream release.
