+ The installonlyn plugin functionality has been folded into core yum package. installonlypkgs in combination with installonly_limit is used by default to control the number of kernels retained to 2. You can adjust the package set, number or disable the option entirely to match your preferences. More details is available in the man page of yum.conf

+ Yum now retries when it detects a lock which is useful if a daemon is checking for updates or if you are running yum and one of its graphical frontends simultaneously.

+ Yum now understands a cost parameter in it's configuration file which is the relative cost of accessing a software repository.  It is useful for weighing one software repository's packages as greater/less than any other. It defaults to 1000.
