That's a bug you should report to Mandrake. There should be an option to 
add the new kernel to the existing bootloader, or not modify it at all.

What bootloader did Mandrake install?

Which one do you want to use?

You can probably boot FC1 from floppy, add lines for mandrake in 
/etc/grub.conf, and run grub-install.
