Please tell me how I am to know when grub is available to me?

In lilo we simply create a text file for /boot/message and drop a couple
of Ctrl-G chars in it. Number of Ctrl-g chars = number of beeps you
hear. Very definite.
PS: The suggestion to put Ctrl-g in titles under grub doesn't seem to
work. Seems you get the beep AFTER pressing enter, which is quite
useless, of course.
