Call to undefined function: mysql_connect()

I get this error and have the following rpms installed:

php-ldap-4.3.2-7
php-devel-4.3.2-7
php-imap-4.3.2-7
php-manual-4.3.2-7
php-4.3.2-7
php-odbc-4.3.2-7
php-mysql-4.3.2-7
mysql-bench-3.23.57-1
mysql-server-3.23.57-1
mysql-devel-3.23.57-1
mysql-3.23.57-1

mysqld (pid 6130) is running...

At the same time I can access the database from the command line.  I
googled for an answer but only ran into people that didn't have the
files installed.

Running phpinfo() shows '--with-mysql=shared,/usr' Hopefully the answer
isn't too obvious.
