hardware question: Sony DVD with linux

I haven't used this particular model, but I have been using the DRU-500A 
for quite a few months.  I just got the latest xcdroast and followed the 
directions there for getting ProDVD to work with it.  Originally I had a 
problem with a few brands of DVD-R/RW, but they released new firmware 
for it (although I had to install the firmware in Windows--ACK!), and 
now all of my media work with the drive.
