Severn 2 and kernel-smp-2.6.0-0.test5.1.45.i686.rpm don't get along

I upgraded my test box to severn 2 today - went smoothly.
As this is a dual PIII box, I heeded Michael Johnson's warning and
didn't run smp until I upgraded to kernel-smp-2.4.22-1.2075.nptl.i686.rpm.
That went without a hitch too.

So, feeling lucky, I installed Arjan's kernel-smp-2.6.0-0.test5.1.45.i686.rpm
but with that kernel the box hung during the initscripts -- with the graphical
boot it is not as clear where the problem is, but it appears to be with the
advanced power monitoring. Does anyone else see that?

Probably, I should just disable apmd, as my box doesn't support it anyway.

Regards, Willem Riede.
