Just edit your /etc/cdrecord.conf and put there something like
CDR_DEVICE=/dev/hdc or adjust it correctly.  Something like that
in your case:

CDR_DEVICE=cdrom
cdrom=          ATAPI:1,0,0     -1      -1      burnfree

and then you will not have to worry about these details regardless
which front end you happen to use.
