Try this from an xterm 
cat scripts/screen-blanker 
# Written by Ow Mun Heng
# Oct 15 19:44
# (VERY) Simple executable file to enable screen blanking with one mouse
click
# wonder if I can put in a short-cut key

xset -display :0 dpms force off
