Alsa bug/problem

run /usr/bin/alsamixer (from alsa-utils-1.0.6-3 which is I believe
installed by default)

Set what is setable to something over 60 percent.

Use <esc> to save and exit from alsamixer.

Try again; betcha you'll hear stuff.
