Does udev make system unbootable?

Well, we're beginning to exhaust whatever "expertise" I have in
trying to get udev and your compiled kernel working.
I suppose another approach would be to see if you can re-install
your "dev-" package but I don't know if that was removed from FC3T1
for a specific reason in yesterday's updates or if it was just a
"left-hand/right-hand" oversight.
If someone can shed any more light here, please feel free to jump
in....
