last two kernels

I did an ftp upgrade Friday from development and got the mix from that 
date to install. I get a resolution now and am currently able to connect 
to the Internet with no tricks.
Up2date ended up being broken and yum is not configured to install 
whatever it can resolve, then report on unresolved deps for packages, so 
upgrading can be less problematic.

I guess the kernel is not responsible directly for the error.
