This kernel shows improvement with the virtual console problem, sort
of ...

I was able to get a virtual console. The right most part of each line
actually displayed at the left (wrap issue) - but I could log in and
stuff. Once I switched though, all consoles switched to vertical black
and white stripes that reminded me of a bad ROM on a Mac SE 30 ...

And machine was not pingable.
