yum update problme on FC5T2

I was executed follow command on Fedora Core 5 Test 2

# yum update
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories

Reading repository metadata in from local files

at this point, terminal printed no characters, I continually checked
memory usage on another terminal. then I found that memory usage of
yum was increasing.
about two minutes later, yum used almost memory, then keyboard and
mouse were no response.

finally, yum had died naturally and keyboard and mouse worked fine.
yum version is 2.5.1-4.

HELP ME.
