Looks like this matches ... http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/#issues
The FC4 kernel has a patch to bump up that timeout already though.

Can you try this.. (as root)

rmmod ipw2200
echo 100 > /sys/class/firmware/timeout
modprobe ipw2200

and see if it does the same thing ?
