Fedora floating screensaver stutters

I do notice that with the default screensaver, every time I unlock my
laptop the CPU is pinned and cpuspeed is 100%, all due to the screen
saver. I know I can switch it to just blank (and do) but it seems like
it's a bit to resource heavy as a default. It may be saving my screen
but it's not saving my battery!
