Unable to mount /proc

Hi,

My laptop seems to no longer love me.

While booting, I get the following error

mounting /proc filesystem... failed
I can't recover from this

I boot from a rescue CD, chroot to /sys/mntimage and everything seems.
All of the directories I would expect to be there are and everything
else seems happy; I even updated from rawhide last night with yum and it
worked.

The system is pretty much happy.

Problem is this mounting /proc one. Any ideas what it is and how to fix
it?
