Don't do such things.  Really!  (Possibly with those small exception
when you are sure what you are doing and what may happen).  You may
end up with files, including executables, with unexpected
ownerships.  What is more - unpacking tar.bz2, and similar, executes
some subprocesses.   Are you certain what you are truly executing?

For similar reasons rebuilding on a root account src.rpm files
of not absolutely certain provenience, and when you are sure that
they are not buggy, is more often than not just plain dumb.

In general - if as root you are doing things which do not _have to_
be done by root then, at least on a longer run, you are asking for
troubles.
