Compac Presario V6500 F8t2 - questions

hi,

I did send the results of my tests earlier,  with several included questions.
( yes, not clearly stated maybe..)

a:   I would like to know how the nVidia nForce PCI System Management,
      bridge, and BIOS is suppose to work together + the chain of other             units?

- Fedora have been fucking up these things from FC6 with their kernel upgrades.  Why ??

- the initial F8t2 kernel was: 
  2.6.23-0.164.rc5.fc8  
- got upgraded to
  2.6.23-0.184.rc6.git4.fc8

In that process -

Not only does is disturb the sata - drive,  but other hardware as well.
It mess things up.  The last kernel clearly interfere with the power control
button, and the touch-pad.  It has been a nightmare for several weeks,
as the touchpad become hopeless.  There are other units involved, touch
sensitive sliders, card readers, sound, modem, ethernet, wireless, bluetooth, etc..

Fedora has not been working since initial FC6 release !  All F7 releases,
be it i386, x86_64 - all of them fuck up.  Checked OpenSuse, - almost identical story.  

I have sent a link to the specifications of mem/ioports/interrupts - can someone please take a look ?   Or give me a good reason why this
has to be fucked with all the time ? 

If hardware with NVIDIA parts need some special built kernels,  tell me
how I can accomplish this, please ?

I am sorry - I have tried to locate a "notification" I found at HP, regarding
firmware problems.  HP would repair those affected, free of charge, if you
sent it in for service.  Mainly it was several HP notebooks, but I did see
Presario too.   

In short - it gave a list of indicators. The computer would go dead. No display, not lights, no keys or switches would work.   It did happen to me,
and I pulled out the RTC-battery in order to get the default BIOS settings.

If the cause is firmware, or in my case - installing kernels with some screwed settings, I don't know.  But I did upgrade the firmware and
it is now:  PhoenixBIOS   version F.06

>From NVIDIA ,  I was told:

"Make sure your SATA controller is in AHCI mode from the BIOS."

Well,  BIOS doesn't have anything on disks, so how can I do that ?

( I suppose one has to make sure that settings doesn't conflict in Fedora )

c:  The test results I have supplied:

If someone could check them - it may give a clue to what is happening.
Perhaps we need a filter installed, so that we can block out kernel and module upgrades ?   Have something preselect what hardware should not
receive these things ?  
( I got several machines that have suffered from this, - it's been a nightmare -  as  too  little info  are given,  and  it  is  impossible  to  keep  track of  a  few  hundred  patches or  upgrades  that  we  receive  )
