is there a problem with sha1sum?

The easiest way to find out:

> type sha1sum
sha1sum is /usr/bin/sha1sum

> rpm -qf /usr/bin/sha1sum
coreutils-5.97-1.2.i386

> rpm -qi coreutils
[...]
Group       : System Environment/Base       Source RPM: coreutils-5.97-1.2.src.rpm
[...]

So if you were to file a bug, you'd do so against the coreutils
component.
