cannot get into system with kernel 2.6.24-0.138.rc7.fc9 on laptop(Solved)

I logged on to previous kernel in level 3, 
# rpm -e kernel-2.6.24-0.138.rc7.fc9
# yum update 
I tried again and it worked.  As soon as I sent the
mesage I tried the above out and it fixed the problem.
 Sorry for the noise.
