model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
[root at potoroo ~]# hdparm -i /dev/sda

It's an HP dc7700, 2 Gbytes of RAM.
However, it's possible I was a bit behind and didn't pick up the newer
version until just before my 1.0 Gbyte update. I've given up watching,
but I could time it and post the results if I think it's still slow.
