Strange Gnome Behavior After Rawhide 20080906 update

Well, gnome desktop panels and desktop icons did not come up after 
reboot, just my background and startup programs that have windows on the 
desktop.

Crl-Alt-BS and select gnome/openbox and got everything back and then 
repeat selecting just gnome and all is well with each restart now.

No harm, no foul?
