x86_64 Thunderbird won't open web pages in F11 test releases

I seem to recall a discussion about this, but can't find it.  On x86 
installs, clicking a web address works nicely bringing up firefox.  On 
the x86_64 version, nothing.

Could some kind soul enlighten me?
