Try cleaning your drive with an optical drive cleaning kit. Such kits do help. It could be that the laser device in the drive has dust on it.

If that doesn't work, check if you can boot from a USB stick.

If you can't boot from a USB stick, then replace the optical drive. It is not so expensive as it may seem.

imation DVD+R.  i hesitate to blame the media but ... who knows?
