We don't change anything intentionally in the Fedora kernel which could affect
mount permissions afaik, so I'm not sure why this would be different.

Could you test a stock kernel on F8 and see if it still happens ? That would
rule out whether it is actually something we apply.   Use the same config
options from /boot/config-2.6.24.4-64.fc8 and just run make oldconfig
