that's why you should be using a config management tool like cfengine,
puppet, chef, ansible, ....., (choose your poison).

Organizations usually have multiple admins and people make mistakes.
Config tools ensure configs are consistent (they can also wreak havoc
if not used properly haha), but that's where test/dev systems are for
;-)
