Greetings Red Hat Partners,

We are pleased to announce the availability of the Red Hat Hardware
Certification Test Suite 1.7.0 Beta 3 (hwcert-client-1.7.0-62.1) for
testing purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 test releases.

The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite 1.7.0 Beta 3 package
(hwcert-client-1.7.0-62.1) is *not* an official release and should *not*
be used for Red Hat Enterprise Linux certification submissions. The
current Red Hat hwcert-client Hardware Test Suites
(hwcert-client-1.5.10-2 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x and
hwcert-client-1.6.5-25.1 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x) should
continue to be used for official certifications.

We are not yet accepting certifications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. A
separate announcement will be sent to partners indicating when official
certifications for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 will begin.

The Red Hat Hardware Certification Test Suite Beta 3 is available at the
following location:

hwcert-client package
---------------------
ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL7/hwcert-client/1.7.0/

Required hwcert-client-info package
-----------------------------------
ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL7/hwcert-client-info/1.7.0/

Highlights of the hwcert-client-1.7.0-62.1 test suite beta 3 include:

* The hwcert-client-1.7.0-62.1 package only supports Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 7.0 Public Beta and later releases.

* The hwcert-client-info-1.7.0-62.1 package is downloadable separately.
The info test will continue to issue a failure as kernel values for
RHEL7 are not present.

* Testers should use the RHEL 6 hwcert-server-1.6.5 package on a RHEL 6
machine to function as the test server. While a hwcert-server.el7
package is available in the test directory, it is suggested only for
exploratory testing at this time.

* During Beta 3 testing, testers should use the RHEL 6 versions of the
dt, lmbench, and stress packages, which are not yet available for RHEL
7. They can be downloaded from this location and then installed on your
RHEL 7 test system:

ftp://partners.redhat.com/a166eabc5cf5df158922f9b06e5e7b21/hwcert/RHEL6/

* With the fix for kernel Bug#904903 available in RHEL7 Public Beta, the
profiler test is re-enabled.

* The fv_* tests are enabled but will fail as RHEL7 requires updated
guest images (bug #1034808) and will display a missing dependency prompt
on the python-virtinst package (bug #1018299).

* The video test will fail and display a missing dependency on the
xorg-x11-apps package (bug #965335).

* The USB3 test no longer immediately fails when a USB2 device is
plugged in during testing.

* New capability specific 10GigEthernet, 1GigEthernet, and
100MegEthernet tests are added and will plan by default on the
appropriate devices. This will avoiding needing to rerun the network
test because of incorrect connections.

* New capability-specific WirelessG and WirelessN tests are added and
will plan by default on the appropriate devices.

* The wlan and network tests are called from the WirelessX tests,
avoiding the need to run each of them separately on wireless adapters.

* The expresscard test now also uses dmidecode data to discover
expresscard hardware.

* New capability-specific USB2 and USB3 usb tests are added and will
plan by default on the appropriate devices.

* The usb test will now record the port type that has been tested.

* The 'hwcert' command will attempt to submit previously run, but not
submitted, test results to the hardware catalog before testing.

* The 'hwcert' command will print a summary, similar to the old 'v7
print' command, at the end of the current run. It will be displayed
before prompting to submit or save the results to the hardware catalog
or hwcert-server.

* Results xml.gz files can be viewed, downloaded locally, and uploaded
to the hardware catalog using the hwcert-server package web interface at:

   http://{hwcert-server-IP}/hwcert/

* The pcmcia-utils package has been deprecated, thus the pccard test
will be removed (bug #916356).

The hwcert-client-1.7.0-62.1 package has been tested against RHEL7.0
Public Beta on the x86_64, ppc64, and s390x architectures. If you
encounter any problems, please file bugs against the 'Red Hat Hardware
Certification Program' product in Red Hat Bugzilla
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com).
