Do you have any documentation on how to do that?
I've been using freedos + .com images on the machines I dont have a boot
nic for.

Right now I just use the Linux Rescue CD from http://www.sysresccd.org/
From there I fdisk a small dos partion, format /s and copy the freedos
files over.
Then I reboot to linux on the rescue CD, copy the .com boot image & a
dos text editor over using scp.
Finally boot back to dos and try the .com image, if it works, edit the
autoexec.bat to load this on startup.

But using lilo seems cool if for no other reason than a custom splash
screen :)
