Here´s how we handle that multiple filtering level issue at my
district. We have multiple servers. There is one set of filtering
servers for the ES´s, the MS´s are on another set, and each HS is on its
own. Now, of course, you could have a bank of servers for the HS level
as well, and one for admin sites. We do each HS individually because
some of them pay for access to certain Web apps (an example might be,
say, www.BlackBoard.com), and the company selling the service
¨authenticates¨ by checking the source IP address. We thus give that
company the proxy server´s ¨external¨ IP address, and boom, that high
school has access to the app.
