RE: [K12OSN] Enlighten me. . .

To get the Novell Login and the windows login to sycronize you need to..
1) setup the student account on the Win200/XP workstation just the way you
want it.
Then copy this profile ... to default user (system properties/advanced/user
profiles

2) install the free Zenwork starter pack - assuming you have NW5 / 5.1 you
should have gotten that with your server.

3) create a policy package in the NDS. There you activate the dynamic user.
Associate this policy package with the student users. On login this policy
will activate, get the user profile from the default user account on the
workstation and log the Novell user in dynamically to the workstation. When
he/she logs out, the dynamic user is trashed.

Works wonderful - especially in a school environment where I did not want to
create 100's of users on dozens of machines .... and it keeps the
workstations nice and clean.

Joe Guenther

Yes, it does, but they get accustomed to it pretty quickly. I think I've
only had to fix one that someone messed up.
There is a way to get XP to recognize Novell logins, but I'm too busy to
mess with it at this point.
