My lts.conf file looks like this.

[Default]
        # IP address of the LTSP server
        SERVER             = 192.168.0.254

        # Video drivers for the terminals
        XSERVER            = auto
I do not have an entry called X_SERVER but just XSERVER.  I am guessing this is
what you are looking for though.

When I run tail -f I get the message

Jul  1 10:23:12 ws253 syslogd started: BusyBox v0.60.4 (2004.02.13-07:21+0000)
Jul  1 10:23:17 ws253 init: Entering runlevel: 5
Jul  1 10:23:17 ws253 init: cannot execute "/etc/X11/prefdm"

so something is wrong with prefdm....
