Murphy's law. You posted this and a week later my office people reported extreme slow downs at random intervals during the day. Turned out that one of the persons was playing chess and....
Sorry I did not have resources to try your patch but I did unload the
game and problem has disappeared for now.
Will keep eye out on progress of this patch.
