Yes - this works well, and in fact, LVM on top of RAID is one of the topics
covered in the RHCE exam. I'm using it here on our main office server, only
with hardware RAID 1 (for some reason I could never get software RAID to
work well in my experiments - once ror twice a week, the machine would
effectively shut down for three hours while it re-sync'ed drives).
