I don't see that you have gone into BIOS to disable the hardware raid
option for this controller as suggested by Eric.  Yes, you can install
AS v.3 for it because the controller is supported in that distro.  It
was not supported in FC2 based K12LTSP distros, but I believe the
controller works with FC3 based K12LTSP distros, as in 4.2.1.  Have you
tried this?
