[K12OSN] configuring metacity for all clients

First, thanks Robert and others for the advice to continue with the 32bit version instead of trying the 64-bit at this time.
I've rebuilt our dual opteron, 6 GB RAM server with the K12LTSP 5.0 from scratch and I'm back to fine-tuning and adding apps, etc. In the old version, I was able to run the configuration editor and set metacity to "reduced resources". This worked for
all the clients and sped the system up significantly. I tried the same thing with the new build but it only works for root and not the clients as it did in the past. Any suggestions on how to universally configure metacity?
Also, system monitor reports 3.9 GB of RAM available... any ideas on implementing all of the RAM without going to 64-bit?
