[K12OSN] Getting MPlayer installed

I ran xvinfo and got the following:

X-Video Extension version 2.2
Screen #0
no adapters present

 I've tried changing adapters in mplayer preferences but I always get
the same message.  I'm not knowledgeable enought to understand what you
are asking me to do. I need a bit more detailed instruction on how to
accomplish this.
