[K12OSN] Identifying sound cards for making enteries in the lts.conf file

I read someplace that there is a file in the server that identifies 
sound cards by name or some logical code.  I have a mixture of cards and 
onboard chips that I need to activate.  Some are PCI others are old ISA 
cards.  Can someone direct me to the correct location for this information?
