Wow.  I just did a quick search and it seems you are right.  

I'm not sure when that change came about but, from a personal point of view, I do not believe that is a good thing.

It does mean that you shouldn't encounter even a 10th of the opposition I thought you would though.  :)

That may be true but from a UK school perspective the vast majority of schools especially primary schools use fingerprints as id for library system access.
