I'm still baffled by a problem with LTSP 5.2.4-5 on Fedora 13. This started when
I upgraded to F13 last Sept., but I haven't had the time to delve into this
problem for awhile.
I'm going to repost my question as a starting point for working the problem.
It may not even be an LTSP problem per se, but I've got to start somewhere.
But first I'll add that Sergio suggested re-running ltsp-update-sshkeys, which
I have done, with no change in the result. So here's what I wrote some
time ago:
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have just done a clean install of Fedora 13 on my
x86_64 system, and installed LTSP that comes with F13,
along with all updates.
I can get the image to download by PXE, and I get
the blue k12Linux login screen. However, after typing
a userid and password, I see the message
Verifying password, please wait.
The screen goes black for a moment and flashes a
message (too fast to be readable), and then
returns to the blue login screen again.
I have listed some relevant information below, but
I am stumped. Anyone have any insights?
RELEVANT INFO
-------------------
- On the server, the user's $HOME/.Xauthority file gets a new modification
time each time a login is attempted.
---------------------
- $HOME/.xsession-errors does not get changed.
------------------------
- /var/log/ldm.log does not exist on the server.
In my lts.conf file, SYSLOG_HOST is set to the ip address of the server
-------------------------
- on the server, /var/log/secure has the following messages from a failed login
attempt for user 'birch'
Sep 6 17:16:21 orpheus sshd[7721]: Accepted password for birch from
192.168.1.110 port 33405 ssh2
Sep 6 17:16:21 orpheus sshd[7721]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for
user birch by (uid=0)
Sep 6 17:16:21 orpheus sshd[7724]: Received disconnect from 192.168.1.110: 11:
disconnected by user
Sep 6 17:16:21 orpheus sshd[7721]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for
user birch
So I THINK the problem is not password authentication, but something that
happens after.
------------------------------------
on the server, /var/log/messages has the following entries for the same
login:

I have tried reinstalling LTSP several times. On thing I do note is that
